About Me

Good morning! Thanks for stopping by and sharing a cup. My name is R.J. Archer and I’m the author of the Seeds of Civilization series, a trilogy of mystery/adventure novels based on real-life archaeological mysteries. I’m currently working on a four-book follow-up series called Parallel Ops and I also author The Mega Blog, a non-fiction blog focused on some amazing underwater archaeology taking place in the Caribbean. The Mega Blog explains much of the “science behind the fiction” for both my Seeds and Parallel Ops series.

I’m a retired computer consultant and I supported small- and mid-sized businesses in the Pacific Northwest for more than 35 years. I’ve also published nearly two hundred technical articles in both print and electronic media and I currently provide content to several publications on the subjects of scuba diving and computer technology. In addition, I’m the owner and editor of BajaDivers.com, a website about diving the 2,000-mile Baja coastline.

I now live in Baja California Sur (Mexico) with my wife, Marty, and our 17-year-old cat, LaBete. Each morning I hope to share something about the novels, the incredible Baja diving or life as an expat in Mexico. I’ll try to categorize my posts so you can catch up on only those topics that interest you.
Again, thanks for stopping by!

The photos above are from my “bucket list” and I plan to start adding in 5-year intervals, beginning with my 65th birthday in 2011. Although this was totally unplanned, the events so far ended up being air, sea and land so I guess I need to either start over with air next year (any ideas?) or maybe I’ll come up with an entirely new medium, such as “space” – could I become the world’s oldest astronaut?
